Poke-Poke (Ilocano Eggplant Dish)

Food is as varied as the people, so you must be prepared for the unexpected. Some dishes will make your stomach turn while others will tickle your curiousity. Precisely!

This is the very first time I encounter the word Poke-Poke which is and Ilocano Eggplant dish. At first I instantly pictured out in my mind as something gross for the reason that the name itself may sound indecent if literally translated in tagalog terminologies. 

Poke-Poke is a filipino (Ilocano) authentic dish made from the flesh of the grilled eggplants traditionally sauteed in garlic, onion, tomato, pork stock, pinakurat vinegar and soy sauce. This is a filipino dish that is very popular item which is served especially together w/ the ginataang monggo and plain rice or a garlic rice which I tried eating for the very first time to our very own kitchen together with my blockmates. 

Thought of the appearance of the dish is so simple and is not as visually appealing but it is really packed with excellence flavors and especially with the combination of spices that once you start to pop, you surely cannot stop. This was surely something new to my eyes as the taste of this dish was beyond satisfaction.
